Cargill introduces Gerkens® 22/24 Garnet™ cocoa powder in new convenient 5 kg. bags

LITITZ, Pa. – Cargill has introduced new convenient 5 kg. bags, designed for trouble-free handling and storage, for its Gerkens® 22/24 Garnet™ cocoa powder. Gerkens® 22/24 Garnet™ cocoa powder is a highly alkalized, high fat cocoa powder that conveys an intense cocoa flavor in a dark red color.

This is the first time that Cargill has introduced a bag weighing less than 50 lbs. into the North American market. The new bags will make it more convenient for confectioners, chocolatiers, bakers, and pastry chefs, especially those with limited space, to store in their kitchens. For added convenience, distributors will no longer need to repack 50 lb. bags into smaller packaging because the product will be sold in 5 kg. bags, 4 per box.

“The new 5 kg. bags highlight Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate’s ability to meet customer demands for high quality and convenience,” said Jan O’Brien, specialty sales director, Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate. “We are pleased to offer our customers this line of cocoa powder, which builds on Cargill’s strong portfolio and provides even more opportunities to share the ingredients and knowledge to help our customers succeed.”

Gerkens, with its Dutch heritage, is known for producing consistent, high quality products. The cocoa beans are carefully selected and artfully combined to create a selection of cocoa powders that stimulate the imagination as well as the appetite. The product is alkalized to ensure flawless consistency of color, flavor and functionality.
